#ArtDeptStrong
It became a credo during “The Future is Gnar”. After Production Designer Gary Kordan read some early story documents for the season finale, he started sketching proposals for a war torn future; set in the TelAmeriCorp office.
Then it had to become a reality. How would we turn a normal office set into a cut scene from a video game? The answer turned out to be hard work, and Set Decorator Julie Drach lead her team to their best work of the season, if not the series.
The Art Department of Workaholics made the future gnar. I’d list them all by name here, but I wouldn’t want to leave anyone out, and a lot of their last names are hard to spell, but sincerely, Art-D, thank you. The episode would have looked like the TelAmeriCorp cleaning staff had gone on strike (episode idea?) without you.
Tomorrow on the Tumblr we’ll talk about some other Crew heroes, specifically how the Costume and Make Up Departments made you believe Alice could lose her head.
The Workaholics Mix Tape - The Future is Gnar
“Alright baby we’re taking it to ‘em now! Work the leg, baby! Work the leg! Might as well quit Bulldog, you ain’t got no chance!”
Karl’s version of Jimmy Hart’s First Family would probably look something like this—
- King Kong Dersy
- Adam “The Snake Roberts” DeMamp
- “Hot Stuff” Uncle Blazer
- Sewer Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson
- “The Red Dynamo” That Lesbian Who Knocked out Ders
They’re coming to terrorize YOUR home town! Especially if your home town is Memphis. Lot of dirty wrestling trash in Memphis.
MTV News stopped by the Workaholics house during filming of an upcoming Season 3B episode to chat with Kyle, Blake, and Ders about what to expect out of the new season, who you might be seeing guest star, and what stars the guys are after to pop up in future seasons.
ANTHONY ANDERSON AIN’T SAFE NOWHERE!
Adam, Blake, and Ders want to thank all of the Workaholics fans who participated in yesterday’s huge Reddit AMA.
Over 10,000 questions were submitted, and the guys tried to get to as many as they could over the course of the session. Some of the best question/answer combos are posted above for those lost in the backlog.
The Workaholics Tumblr will still have answers for you on the occasional question and query, but to save time let’s go ahead and answer some of the recurring faves—
- When will Seasons 2 and 3A be put up on Netflix?
I don’t know yet. Soon as I have an idea, you’ll be the second person I tell (my friend Bert asked that he be the first to know).
Me? Or the guys? Or one of each? Maybe start with me, then trade up for one of the guys? Who am I? Just the guy running the Tumblr, some call me Beef… but ya know, the guys are gonna say no, so let’s table the marriage thing for now and focus on…
- Can I get weird with you guys?
Oh, weren’t we doing that already:-) Well, in that case…
Let’s all #GetWeird tomorrow night with the Season 3B premiere of Workaholics, “Booger Nights”, at 10/9 CT, only on Comedy Central.
A lot of shows would use walkie talkies to communicate with actors shooting a scene from a high vantage point.
Or you could just yell up. That’s worked pretty well for us so far.
Kyle Newacheck takes a break from writing and prepping Season 3B this summer to ride his hog around the parking lot.
He didn’t break any bones, but he sure broke a lot of hearts.
On the set of “Flashback in the Day”, Director Kyle Newacheck works with Director of Photography Grant Smith and Camera Operator Justin Browne to block the scene where the guys first meet Alice and the TelAmeriCorp world.
“Happy Alice” gives you a glimpse of what that world was like before Adam, Anders, and Blake invaded. Who knows, if they never worked there…
Maybe Homegirl would still be alive.
Maybe Montez’s son wouldn’t have seen an adult man’s penis at age 9.
Maybe Jillian would have died at Waymond’s hand; maybe Waymond would have died at Jillian’s hand. One of them would be dead, for sure. And Jet Set ain’t saying who.
Director Kyle Newacheck gives Adam skitching tips on the set of “Real Time”.
Adam wore the rollerblades through the entirety of production; while he got around faster, he did say his feet hurt, he hated them, and he never, ever wanted to have an episode where he wore them all week ever again.
So should there be a “Real Time 2: Cruise Control”, look for Adam to sport cross country roller skis, a sick board, or, at worst, a Segway.
