John O’Rourke, 1st AD:
John O’, aka “the hardest working man in showbiz”, is the motor that keeps the Workaholics train running. Literally.
One time a generator blew and we lost power, so John O’ looked in it’s direction and it started up again. Electric said they never saw anything like it.
The AD Staff uses a lot of lingo to communicate throughout the production day, and let’s face it; time is money. Hence, they (and all other AD/Production staffs) use lingo to speed things up.
Even when it comes time to do one’s business, they got ya covered—
"10-1" means you’re going to the restroom, but won’t be long.
"10-2" means you’re going to be a while, most likely with a magazine or smart phone.
Lot of 10-2’s after lunch, at least saying of the word, whether it was to indicate action, we weren’t checking.
