Talking Hands

The Puppets.

Producers knew it was a risk to have over 2 pages of dialogue take place between puppets of Adam, Blake and Ders, and not the actual people themselves; but it was an idea they were committed to that showed the guys solving their conflict in a new, exciting way.

“WHAT DID DERS DO TO HIS HAIR?!!?!”
The (so far) biggest change to a character’s appearance was one we tried to keep a lid on (clever) as photos and clips were released for Dry Guys, and it’s one of the signature images of Season Two.
How did Ders become Blonders?  The scripted dye job was actually a wig, which Hair Department Head Carla Joi Farmer fitted (and unfitted) depending on whether the scene called for “regular” or “dipped”.
The result was a Children of the Corn meets Eminem mash up that scared children and delighted crew members.  Will Blonders ever return?  Keep watching Season Two to find out.

In case you missed it, or, you just want to watch it over and over again, is the much discussed Cold Open of DRY GUYS!

Yep… the whole thing is ONE continuous shot, with no cuts. It took many takes to get this perfect scene in order, with Blake knowing by the end whether he was going in the pool, or we were resetting back to the beginning.

It was a testament to the Cast and Crew that we could do a shot like this, and director Kyle Newacheck called it “His masterpiece”… we’re pretty sure.

Don’t feel left out.  Go with the guys on a trip over to TelAmeriCorp HR.

Mitch Hurwitz, creator of Arrested Development, guest stars IN FRONT of the camera as the head of that department, Eric Rossdale, in a performance that begs to be seen.  It’s us begging you, but still, very much worth your time.

DRY GUYS.
Tonight. 10:30/9:30 CT. Comedy Central.
Let’s review what you know so far:
You know that the guys give up drinking after a big night of partying.
You know there’s scaffolding outside the TAC offices for some reason.
You know their paths eventually cross that of the mysterious Eric Rossdale.
Well here’s something you didn’t know until now: tonight’s opening scene (aka Cold Open) is the favorite of pretty much any Workaholics staff member who’s seen it; when it was shot, nearly the entire available crew crowded around the monitors watching as it filmed.
Many predict the scene will be not just be people’s favorite Cold Open of Season Two, but perhaps people’s favorite continuous sequence of the entire series.
With that hype job complete, tune in tonight (right at the start!) to find out what led the guys to go dry in the first place…  if the photo shown is any indication, it’s a doozy.

Last Friday, as of 8:15PM, 1st AD John O’Rourke called a Production WRAP on Workaholics Season Two.

We started filming on June 28th, and in the time since have shot 10 episodes everyone’s extremely proud of.  We’ve gone places we never thought we’d go; shot some places we’d already been in ways we never thought possible; and only harmed one major animal (but we feel the goat was asking for it).

The Cast & Crew celebrated the season at the wrap party last night, a time for laughter, reflection, and tequila shots.  Waymond’s suit was described by many as “stunning”, and no one ended up on TMZ (so far).

While we’re done shooting, there’s still a lot left to do for editing, wrapping, and airing all the episodes everyone’s worked so hard to complete.  Stay tuned for more Workaholics: Behind the Scenes pictures, news, and commentary as we continue to air ALL NEW episodes every Tuesday at 10:30/9:30 CT, only on Comedy Central.

We can now announce the second episode of Workaholics Season Two is called…

DRY GUYS

Log line: After a hard night of partying the guys try to go sober for a week.

We can also tell you the guys take a trip to the TelAmeriCorp Human Resources office, or “TAC HR” for short, where they meet the mysterious Eric Rossdale.

Meet him yourself this Tuesday, September 27th, at 10:30/9:30 CT, on Comedy Central.

Production Notes on Heist School:

When we shot the scene of Blake getting a swirlie, director Tristram Shapeero thought it would be cool to have a POV shot from inside the toilet. Since we couldn’t set up a camera in an actual toilet (for safety, hygiene, and logistical purposes) we had to rig up a toilet in the office parking lot.
